VSAT systems for fast internet connection at sea  - Flexibility should be key decision factor

High bandwidth and sufficient data allowance are the basis for using sophisticated online applications at sea. This is realised by deploying fully automatic self-tracking satellite systems in Ku and Ka band. For the benefit of users, procurement cost and operating cost for maritime broadband connection have been falling in past years. Still, installing a stabilized maritime VSAT on-board is a considerable procurement decision for many boat owners in the shipping industry and private sector alike.

Especially when only a limited budget is available for upgrades or new investments it is important to get tailor-made solutions that deliver exactly according to needs. Low-cost solutions that do not meet the requirements can quickly become a lost investment. Based on this insight, EPAK® offers flexibility from beginning to end by giving customers a number of options. For each individual requirement we strive to find the best solution.

If your requirements change, your satellite broadband solution must change, too

The newly introduced leasing model for maritime satcom antennas reflects this commitment to maximum flexibility: no upfront investment in hardware, warranty cover for time of contract duration, leasing terms from 12 months, a wide selection of tariffs and numerous add-ons for improved performance. If your requirements change over time, you can upgrade, downgrade of even pause the data bundle.

Leasing offers maximum flexibility with low upfront cost and fixed monthly charges

The complete package solution includes a maritime satcom in Ku- or Ka-Band, modem, accessories and airtime at a fixed monthly rate.
Broadband speeds range from 1 Mbit/s to 24 Mbit/s download

1 Airtime and satcom hardware leasing in one monthly rate.

What do you get? Get first-hand, state-of-the-art technology onto your vessel. EPAK® is designer and manufacturer of stabilized maritime antennas. The complete package includes an EPAK® satcom antenna and the airtime service to use it.

2 Determine your shipping area to get the best deal.

In some areas satellite coverages is cheaper than in others. Selecting the right footprint will optimize your monthly airtime cost. Refer to the pages "Worldwide", "Europe, Middle East, Atlantic" or "North Sea and Inland Waterways" for more details.

3 Select a contract duration between 12, 24 or 36 months.

The longer the contract, the lower the monthly rate. If you foresee not to use the service for a certain period you can pause the airtime and only pay a reduced fee to cover the hardware lease. (Minimum Standby 1 month).

4 Find out which monthly rate applies for your coverage, service speed and contract duration.

Select the relevant pricing tables to check prices or contact us. Note that our standard tariffs are shared services which are much cheaper than dedicated bandwidth and offer best value for money. However you need to be aware that a shared service implies that the bandwidth is shared between a fixed number of users. Available bandwidth therefore ranges from MIR (Maximum Information Rate) in the best case to CIR (Committed Information Rate) at worst. Both MIR and CIR are displayed for your information and decision making. While the speed can be reduced at times due to the constrains detailed above, data volume of unlimited plans is truly unlimited.
